The Stranger (Just One Night #1) Book Review *Kyra Davis*

Kasie knows who she’s supposed to be. But one passionate night with a mysterious stranger will teach her who she wants to be.

You should sleep with a stranger, her best friend whispers in her ear as they take to Vegas for one last pre-wedding fling. Despite her best intentions, when Kasie Fitzgerald enters the casino and sees him, a man whose tailored clothes belied a powerful, even dangerous, presence, she loses herself to the moment. Maybe it’s the dress, much shorter than she’d ever normally wear, or the Scotch, but something makes her give herself over to him more completely than she's ever done with a man before.

It was supposed to be just one night. But right as she’s thinking she wants more, he shows up in her office with an agenda. As the billionaire CEO of a company that’s engaged her PR firm, his demands just became her reality...and he desires so much more than just some attention in the boardroom

The Stranger by Kyra Davis is the first book in the Just One Night serial series. I’m not a big fan of serials in general, but this one caught my eye on Netgalley. I decided to take a chance, and whoa baby, this book packs quite the punch. The one reason is the cliffhanger ending you won’t see coming. Also the set up is very interesting. Kasie, the main protagonist has a very mundane life. She’s essentially a good girl who has never done anything too drastic or shocking. Her long time boyfriend Dave is also a good man who is very reliable, but not too exciting. Kasie expects him to pop the question, which she’ll end up saying yes to. But before she does, Kasie and her friend Simone go to Las Vegas to live it up. Simone wants Kasie to experience passion once in her life and thinks Kasie should have a one night stand before she commits fully to Dave in matrimony. Kasie laughs that off. She would never do such a thing, but does throw caution to the wind and wears a tight, sexy dress. And because of that dress, she meets the handsome Robert at a casino. One thing leads to another, and she ends up in his hotel room where they have hot sex together. Kasie then leaves Robert, not expecting to see him again. Surprise, surprise for Kasie because Robert is a billionaire CEO who starts using the services of her PR firm for his company.

Kasie is afraid Robert will spill everything, especially when he finds out she has a boyfriend. She wants to keep it just business between them, but Robert wants more. He sets out to seduce her and steal her away from ho hum Dave. Kasie's not willing to give up everything she has with Dave because he keeps her settled, and she knows she will have a good life with him. But Robert is a new addiction she can’t stop herself from trying, and Robert knows it. Robert is very slick and has a way to him that  Kasie can’t refuse. Kasie almost gives in, but then something so unbelievably shocking happens. Kasie may have no other choice but walk away from Robert.

The Stranger is one sexy and hot romance. Robert is a man most readers will swoon over. He’s not too alpha and actually considerate to Kasie and her needs. The reason Kasie doesn’t give in to Robert and why she stays with Dave is explained well here. The last chapter comes across more as an erotic thriller in tone because of the ending. The ending will make your jaw drop because it’s so unexpected. It comes way out of left field and you’ll be on the edge of your seat, anxious to read Exposed, the next book, to be released on March 18th.

Kyra Davis really hit one out of the ballpark with The Stranger. If you’ve been wanting to try a serial series. I would recommend you read this one. (Pocket Star)
