Ever since the Fifty Shades trilogy has dropped down the list, there has been some waves made with new books entering the top 10 on the New York Times Combined Fiction and Ebook list. The Fifty Shades trilogy books are at #2-4, but the currently #1 spot is a new book with Ken Follet's Winter of the World, book 2 in his Century trilogy.
Expect JK Rowling's The Casual Vacancy (which has some very mixed reviews, specifically the NY Times' review that gave the book a big thumbs down) to take over the top spot on every book list next week.
Some familiar reads are still there like Gone Girl and Bared to You, although Bared to You has dropped to #10.
Sandra Brown, the author who wrote the best category romances in the history of category romances, arrives on the list at #7 with Low Pressure. It looks like writing thrillers (I guess with a touch of romance) sell very well for Sandra.
Serial romance is still doing well for Beth Kery. Because of You Part VIII is at #14 and Jill Shalvis is at #15 with Simply Irresistible.
The Ebook list is a mashup of the combined list with some stand outs, such as two self published authors:
Kelly Favor is at #26 with His Every Touch (For His Pleasure #8). Hmm, the heroine signs a book contract allowing the hero to do whatever he wants to her? Okay, Fifty Shades. This is $2.99 and very short. Seems too high of a price to pay for something less than 100 pages.
Synopsis: Kallie Young has finally succumbed to bad boy Hunter Reardon's advances. She's even gone so far as to sign a contract that gives him the right to do with her as he pleases.
But as it turns out, Hunter wants more still. And when Hunter's increasing demands interfere with her own personal responsibilities, Kallie will have to make difficult choices.
As her nights with Hunter grow hotter and more intimate, other problems surface. Hunter has a past that won't remain hidden forever, and Kallie is more and more determined to find answers--even if her contract specifically forbids her from doing so.
In the end, she will be left wondering if her latest revelation about Hunter's life is more than she can possibly bear.
Bella Andre is at #28 with Let Me Be the One (The Sullivan's #6). This is $4.99
And Entangled Publishing still has their 2 books there, the only epublisher to do so with Wrong Bed, Right Guy at #16 and Seducing Cinderella at #33.
Paperback Trade Fiction list is run over by former Twilight fan fiction with the Fifty Shades Trilogy (the first book holds the #1 spot) and Gabriel's Inferno and Gabriel's Rapture. Most of the trade paperbacks on this list are $15 and up. Too pricey for me to purchase former Twilight fan fiction, but it looks like the readers can't get enough of it.
Unto the USA Today Best Sellers...
The Fifty Shades trilogy holds the top 3 spots here a mix of different books to tickle any reader's fancy.
Notable Self Published Author Mention: Nobody's Perfect (Rescue Me #4) by Kallypso Masters at #115. This is a big book at 470 pages for $3.99, which I approve of, but after reading the blurb, I don't think it's for me. Seriously, when has it become the norm for any character in BDSM centric erotic romance to have a horrific abusive childhood? Why can't there be characters with normal childhoods and are emotional stable adults who just want to get involved in BDSM just because they're interested in the kink side of sex and like it?
Synopsis: Savannah Gentry, now Savi Baker, escaped the torture and degradation forced upon her by a sadistic father for eleven years and has made a safe life for herself and her daughter. When her father threatens her peace of mind—and her daughter's safety—Savi runs to Damián Orlando for protection. Their one day together eight years earlier changed both their lives and resulted in a secret she can no longer hide. But being with Damián reawakens feelings she wants buried—and stirs up an onslaught of disturbing flashbacks that leave her shaken to the core with little hope of ever being a sexual being again.
Damián has his own dragons to fight, but has never forgotten the one perfect day he spent with Savannah in a cave at the beach. He will go to the ends of the earth to protect Savi and her daughter, but can never be the whole man she deserves after a firefight in Iraq. Besides, the trauma of war and resulting PTSD has led him to find his place as the Masters at Arms Club's favorite sadist. Savi needs someone gentle and loving, not the broken man he has become. But he sees that the lifestyle he's come to embrace also can help Savi regain control of her life and sexuality. How can he not help redirect her negative thoughts and actions if she needs him?
Notable Self Published Author Mention: Ceaseless (Existence trilogy #3) by Abbi Gines at #128. Sounds like some heavy angsty teen drama. It's $3.99.
Synopsis: When Pagan Moore proved worthy of Death’s devotion, he was given the gift of getting to keep her.
But Dank was never promised that Pagan would keep him.
When a soul is created, so is its mate. In every lifetime those souls find each other. They complete the other’s destiny. It’s time for Pagan’s soul to choose if she truly wants an eternity at Death’s side or if she wants the mate created just for her.
Dank didn’t think he had to worry about her choice. He knew where her heart belonged. Until he realized that every kiss, every touch, every moment of their time together would be washed from her memories. He would have to win her heart all over again and prove to her soul that he was where she belonged.
If only her soul’s mate wasn’t right there standing in his way.
And there you have it, your best sellers of the week.
