Book Spotlight and Contest: Widow's Web by Jennifer Estep

Widow's Web the seventh book in Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin series was released this week. The female protagonist, Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin is one of the best heroines I've read because she's no TSTL, pansy heroine, and an assassin of all things! Also, Gin's lover, Owen isn't too shabby either. Some may say he's slurpalicious.

I'm hoping Jennifer will give Gin's foster brother, Finn, the seductive James Bond type character his own story soon. *hint hint Ms. Estep!* Also, I've claimed Finn and put him in my harem of literary men, so back off!

Synopsis: Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town.

Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power. Salina also has an intimate history with my lover, Owen Grayson, and now that she’s back in town, she thinks he’s hers for the taking.

Salina’s playing a mysterious game that involves a shady local casino owner with a surprising connection to Owen. But they call me the Spider for a reason. I’m going to untangle her deadly scheme, even if it leaves my love affair hanging by a thread.

In honor of the book's release, I'm giving away 1 copy to any US or Canadian resident. If you would like to win Widow's Web, just leave a comment here by Wednesday 8/29. Are you a fan of the series? If so, tell me why! Whose your favorite character and what would you like to see happen to Gin and her crew in future books?

Love this series! Gin is great as an assassin with a soft side and a flair for cooking. The cast of characters is wonderful—from the entertaining and oh-so-modest (HA!) Finn to the Devereux sisters. Great world-building, fun characters, and excellent storytelling—what's not to like? Can't wait to see what happens next!

I love this series! I would love to see Finn and Bria get their own book, especially since Finn acts so smooth around all the other women but totally loses it with Bria, lol.

Love this series. Love Gin, love Owen. I would be so happy (and sad, cause it would probably be no more books) if Gin could have a normal life. She so deserves it, but I don't know if she would know what to do with it! lol

I love this series because Gin is one of the coolest-toughest heroine in the UF genre. My favorite characters are Gin and Finn, and like most readers here I would want to see a wedding!

I'm a big fan of this series, although I'm a bit worried to read about Gin and Owen in this book from some of the things I've heard. I'd love to see either or both of the Devereaux sisters get a love interest, especially Sophia. I think she deserves one.

The Elemental Assassin series is at the top of my favorite series because Gin is such a fantastic character. She has a lot of heart - even though she's had such a rough life, she fights for her self-made family and those who can't fight for themselves. Gin is my favorite character and I'd like to see her continue to do what she's been doing, help those who need it by fighting against the bad guys.

I'm really enjoying this series. I love Gin and she is so kickass but I also love her cooking. I'm glad she has Finn and now Bria. I'm not sure about Owen yet. The blurbs I've seen for this book make it sound like an emotional ride.

I read the above synopsis like one of those old black and white detective movies where the detective narrates the story inside his head, but it was cool to hear it in a woman's voice! :)
