The Song That Helps Me Get Through the Day...

I really do think Lady Gaga's "Born this Way" may be the most influential song of the year and quite possibly the one song people will turn to as they seek acceptance within themselves for years to come. I listen to this song everyday not only because it's so catchy, but because the lyrics remind me that I should be proud I was born the way I am.

I was born to survive and born to be brave. As for being on the right track, that still remains to be seen...

"There's nothing wrong with loving who you are"
She said, "'Cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"

I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way

Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Oh there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way

Aloha, Katie! I wouldn't want you any other way! I offer you a Hawaiian proverb for today:

Ho‘okahi leo ua lawa.

One voice is enough.

I prefer Christina's "Beautiful" on that theme.
But this year's single for me is Radiohead's "Lotus Flower," which is also about acceptance and creation and having the courage to go your own way.

I like her "Judas" better, but I agree with you about "Born This Way" being influential.

This song and The Edge of Glory are the songs I listen to in the car every morning on my way to work. What I love about Born This Way is that there are many who will view the song as an anthem of gay pride, when in reality the song goes much deeper than that.

I think there's quite a lot to be said about where you are now as a person. I think you're pretty awesome, whether we agree or disagree. :-)
