What is the RWA Conference?
Every year, writers and industry professionals come from all over the world to attend Romance Writers of America’s Annual Conference. The Annual Conference is a four-day event filled with educational workshops, career enhancement, and community involvement.
At the conference, career-focused romance writers can anticipate:
Education and information,
Networking with fellow writers,
Interaction with editors, agents, publishers, booksellers, and other romance publishing industry professionals.
This is the first year I'll be attending not only as a book blogger, but as an actual author. It's a milestone for me because my name tag will be under my author name, KT Grant. Just like the other two RWA conferences I've attended, I'll make sure to take pictures and report back all the exciting and fun times I had.
And if you happen to be in the area on Tuesday, 6/28, the "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing is open for anyone!
"More than 400 romance authors participate in this two-hour autographing event, and each year we raise thousands of dollars, which are donated to ProLiteracy Worldwide and local literacy organizations. Since 1990, RWA has donated more than $670,000 to literacy charities. The 2011 "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing will take place on Tuesday, June 28, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square, Broadway Ballroom. This event is open to the public; there is no admittance fee. Proceeds from book sales go to ProLiteracy Worldwide and their local NYC partner, ACE New York."
I'm not signing, but I will be roaming around taking pictures (and bringing Mho). After the signing ends I will be going to the Blogger Bar Bash at the The Atrium Lounge, planned by Wendy the Super Librarian. There's no end time and you'll be able to meet and hang out with a great group of bloggers, authors and one slightly pervy demon sheep.
If you happen to see a redhead with a stuffed sheep walking around, you know it's me. Come up and say hi and you'll be able to take a picture with Mho. But I warn you, Mho likes to snuggle, so you may find a sheep attached to some part of your body at one point.
It's going to be an exciting week hanging out with those who love books and writing them.
