Some future releases to keep your eye on...
I saw this cover over at Book Smugglers and it gave me chills. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Siobhan Dowd (Candlewick Press, May 2nd).
Synopsis: The monster showed up just after midnight. As they do. But it isn’t the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming... The monster in his back garden, though, this monster is something different. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor. It wants the truth.
We finally see how the twins, Felicity and Thalia's parents fell in love. Lord Langley Is Back in Town (Bachelor Chronicles #8) by Elizabeth Boyle (Avon, May 31).
Synopsis: Lord Langley and Minerva, Lady Standon, began their faux engagement with three simple rules set down by the baron's all-too-proper (and utterly unlikely) bride-to-be.
1. No more kissing. The intoxicating kiss Langley stole from her lips still has Minerva aflutter.
2. She will not share his bed. (For if his kiss is that tempting, Minerva doesn't dare imagine what a night in Langley's embrace will do to her already addled senses.)
3. No scandals during their engagement. With the infamous Langley back in Town, there is no lack of trouble he can bring to Minerva's unblemished reputation.
Oh, the wily Lord Langley will keep his word—but that doesn't mean he won't use every rakish trick he knows to get Minerva to break her own proper rules, especially once he realizes that this convenient arrangement has led him to the only woman he's ever loved . . .

Patrick Ness rules all!
I saw Legend in an article on ONTD and it just seems to samey to me. I don't think the much hyped dystopian YA boom publishers were hoping for has come to much. The only ones I've seen in the NYT bestseller lists post-Mockingjay are Delirium and Matched. Everything else seems to have disappeared rather quickly. I think they've got a lot riding on Veronica Roth's Divergent right now, but I can't see this trend continuing with anywhere near the same levels of success the paranormal romance YA trend did.
The Dystopian YA trend will be beaten within an inch of it's life and even more.
Romance YA's will always be popular. I can see a rise in more contemporary real life YA's in the next few years as the industry gluts the public with less than well written Dystopians to fill the need that has begun to wane.
Oh, A Monster Calls sounds interesting...
Hey!! xox
