I'd love Toy Story 3 to win best movie of the year, but that honor will probably go to The Social Network. And although Natalie Portman is getting rave reviews for her role in The Black Sawn, I think Annette Bening may win (mainly because the academy feels it's about time she won an Oscar). Colin Firth pretty much has it in the bag, and from what I hear about Christian Bale's performance in The Fighter, he he'll win Best Supporting Actor. Supporting Actress is up in the air for me. I also think the Best Director winner will come as a surprise with the Coen brothers because True Grit won't win Best Movie.
What do you think of the nominations? Who do you think has a good shot of winning?
I also finally saw Inception this weekend and it was a head trip of a movie! The ending... very open to interpretation. It's about time Leo Dicaprio gets an Oscar, don't you think?

PS: I'm also on the fence about James and Anne duo hosting the awards this year. How I wish Hugh Jackman and Neil Patrick Harris could have had that honor.

Pretty much agree here, except I'm holding out on Steinfeld for SA b/c that was a good performance.
Natalie Portman will win because everyone loves staring at her belly.
I saw James Franco on The Today Show this morning and he was adorable. I usually don't think about him much, but he had such a winning smile. Seemed high (or just really laid back), so I'm not sold on the duo co-hosting the Oscars either. (He was on his way to class at Yale and I kept thinking: Imagine having him in one of your classes.)

I think this is the first year in while that I want to see a good bit of the Oscar nominee movies. Usually they seem like a very bland selection to me.
I did watch Inception last week - meh. Bryan and I were so lost watching most if it and it just went on and on and on. So bored with it.
Toy Story 3 is, of course, absolutely adorable. We love watching that one with kidlet.
I definitely want to see Black Swan, The Social Network and The King's Speech.
What amazes me the most is Helena Bonham Carter's hair not being a complete rat's nest for once. Not that I don't think her usual hair suits her. It so does. She's a great actress.
