Guess What KB Is Going to Start Reading? Key Word: Barrons

Yes folks, I'm finally catching up and have decided to start reading the very popular Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.

The reason I've waited this long was because I didn't want to be craving the final book in this series to the point I couldn't think of anything else. But then again, there may be no promises that I'll like what I'm reading. We shall see.

I've touched and held Shadowfever (the cover is gorgeous) and hope to post the review for Shadowfever from my top secret book fairy sometime soon, so keep your eye out for that.

What is it about these books that has everyone obsessed with reading them? What great things can I look forward to? And what is up with Jericho Barrons that has most female readers in a lusting frenzy?

For those who may be interested, the first line in Shadowfever...

"Hope strengthens."

Yup, I'll download them this weekend and start. I hear you need a palate cleanser between them, as there's not much romance, so we'll see how we get on. But hopefully I'll wrap them up as Shadowfever releases so I won't have to throw myself off a bridge like I keep thinking Mandi and Stacy are going to! :o)

Aargh you are so lucky! You don't have to wait until the 18th like the rest of us minions. I hope you enjoy the series as much as I do. The Fever series was my introduction to Urban Fantasy.

There are no words for Barrons. He's just so....*sigh*

All I can say is...

IT'S ABOUT BLOODY TIME!

KMM is the kind of author I want to be when I grow up.

This is just one SMALL example of why we love Barrons:
"His hand was on my throat, and he was crushing me back with his body into the cold steel beam behind me. "Yes, I have loved, Ms. Lane, and although it‘s none of your business, I have lost. Many things. And no, I am not like any other player in this game and I will never be like V‘lane, and I get a hard-on a great deal more often than occasionally." He leaned fully against me and I gasped.

"Sometimes it‘s over a spoiled little girl, not a woman at all. And yes, I trashed the bookstore when I couldn‘t find you. You‘ll have to choose a new bedroom, too. And I‘m sorry your pretty little world got all screwed up, but everybody‘s does, and you go on. It‘s how you go on that defines you." His hand relaxed on my throat. "And I am going to tattoo you, Ms. Lane, however and wherever I please."

When they fight - oh damn! It's SO GOOD.
And he also drops lines like this:
"One day you will kiss a man you can't breathe without, and find that breath is of little consequence."

Seriously. Read them NOW!

I haven't read this series yet, but I have and own all of her other books. Now that the last book is out I may start reading them. Have heard nothing but amazing things about it.

I have the first 2 in the series. Might wait for the final book to come out before I read the series. I Shadowfever in paperback or hardback?

I want to start reading these as well based on what I've heard of Barrons. I'm kind of glad I didn't start yet because if they are/were that good, I would have gone insane waiting for the last book. Seriously, I have no patience at all. (I'm going slowly insane waiting for Singh's Kiss of Snow book...5 more flippin' months!)

I'm not sure I could fast-gulp all the Fever books; I needed a serious break after book 3 because it got so dark. But then I'm a wuss. ;)

I did this with the Outlander series from Diana Gabaldon. I sure am glad I did because I never could have waited years for the rest of the books. I ended up reading all 8 books during a summer 2 years ago. You are going to love Barrons. Oh my God, all you can do is sigh....Love all of KMM's books.

I'm hating you a little because you have your grubby hands on Shadowfever already!!

Lily of the Darkness picked some amazing lines to portray the relationship between Barrons and Mac.

I cannot wait until the 18th. I've pre-ordered the Kindle edition and I'm not sure if I'm going to work that day. ;)

Lily: based on the excerpts you posted, I'm already in lust!

As I read each book, I'll post my thoughts and most likely a review. I'm very excited and hope I enjoy the series as much as everyone else has.

I just re-read the entire series to get ready for the new book. KMM has said that she's dropped hints, but I still can't say for sure where the final book is going.

The series is dark and to me has a different feel than other UF.

And seriously, JZB is freaking awesome.

PS..check out the music her hubby has created. It's pretty cool.

I am re-reading the entire series (a ritual for each new release which I do for NO other series) in time for the release on the 18th. I can truly see the arc that KMM was creating and I am in awe. That's why waiting between books was so painful. Getting to read straight thru is bliss. There is no filler with Karen, but a sense of "this matters for some reason". I don't want to gush and say "genius", but there is truly no other word(s) for it unless I want to use plain ole' "freakin' awesome", which works just as well.

I like this series, but don't love it as much as others. I prefer here straight romance (particular Drustan and Dageus's books) but I will keep reading to the end, and yes, it is Barrons that is the character I wonder about most!
