Mho Fho Inteviews Lucille the Dog from Just One Taste *Book Contest*

Hey all! your studly demon sheep Mho Fho here. KB is a bit busy at the moment and asked me to take over some of the author interviews she set up. I was very honored that she thought of me because I'm a much better interviewer that KB is. But let's just keep that between ourselves.

I thought that I would be interviewing Louisa Edwards, who has written the delectable Recipe for Love trilogy. But I was tricked! Tricked I say when I found out I wouldn't be interviewing Louisa but one of her characters from her latest release, Just One Taste. And not even a human character but a dog. She's Lucille, the furry companion to the hero chef, Wes Murphy.

Mho snuggling with Just One Taste in bed

Mho: So… *looks down at notes and grimaces* You’re a dog with a girl’s name. Where you named after Lucille Ball? Can you do comedy?

Lucille: I may be a dog, but I’m also a girl—and a very pretty one, according to my human, Wes. In fact, that’s one of my other names: Prettygirl. I have lots! Princess, Sweetcakes, Downgirl…but Lucille is my favorite. It means “light,” so I think it’s perfect for me because when my humans are wandering around in the dark with no idea what to do next, I’m usually the one who has to shed some light on the subject. *big sigh* It’s a tough job, but it’s hard to say no to a human who cooks food for you, special, instead of just opening a can.

Mho: Your owner Wes Murphy is a pretty talented and hot guy *leans into whisper* My slave… ahem, keeper, KB thinks Wes is a cutie. Seeing as you’re a dog and all, does he take you for walks in the park to piddle, scratches your tummy and lets you sleep in bed with him?

Lucille: I don’t know where you were raised, Mho, but I even before Wes rescued me from that awful dog pound, I knew better than to talk about piddling in polite company. Ew. And yes, Wes is talented and wonderful—almost worthy of being my human, really.

Just One Taste and Mho bird watching

Mho: But you must have been really PO’ed, when Wes threw you out and handed you over to some nerdy teacher woman named Dr. Rosemary Wilkins. And it’s okay if you cry and have a Barbara Walters interview moment because of Wes did.

Lucille: Please. He knew what he was doing. It’s not as if that nice doctor lady was a veterinarian or something horrible like that! She spoiled me almost more than Wes did. But she was sad after he left, and that was annoying because she should’ve just been happy to take me for walks and rub my tummy, but I guess she needed more. And I admit, I missed Wes too. So I decided it would be better for all of us if they got back together. *preens* And of course, I was right.

Mho: You’re just too happy with your tail wagging and perky ears. Is it because you get all the left over scraps from that upscale Market restaurant that Wes works at?

Lucille: Is that a remark? Are you calling me FAT? Just because I don’t have grass stains on my teeth, like some people…

Mho: Calm down fuzbucket. I would never dare call a cutey like you fat. I was raised to respect chicks. Even dog chicks. You have a very squeaky growl. Did you know that? Who growls more in bed, Wes or Rosemary? I hear those two are pretty steamy together, but their first time hitting the sheets weren’t in the sheets, but on the floor of a school laboratory. Were you there when it happened? Can you share any steamy details?

Lucille: At least my growl doesn’t make me sound like a nursery rhyme. Which, come to think of it, neither do Wes and Rosemary, or that would be a pretty racy nursery rhyme. *lowers voice confidentially* They sort of…can’t keep their hands off each other. Really, they’re lucky I’m the only one who’s walked in on them. There was this one time in Central Park…oh boy. *panting* Is it getting hot in here?

Mho: I’m always hot! *wiggles tail* Besides Wes and Rosemary, do you get along with any of the other Market employees? If you were a hot human chick, which dude would you go after?

Lucille: All the chefs and servers at Market love me. Not that I spend a lot of time in the kitchen; apparently that wouldn’t be hygienic or sanitary or legal or something. For some reason. *licks daintily at a paw* But I guess, if I couldn’t be with Wes or Rosemary, I’d probably choose Frankie Boyd as my new human. He smells interesting, like fancy tobacco, and he gives off hot British punk rocker pheromones likes crazy. In fact, I’m not the only one at Market who wants to follow him home…I wish I had time to help him out with his romantic troubles, but he and that cute Jess Wake are on their own. I’ve got my hands full keeping Wes and Rosemary from throwing away the best thing that ever happened to them! Which is, of course, the chance to be a family together with ME.

Mho: *leans in to whisper* Just between you and me, KB has a thing for Frankie. She’s destined for failure in regards to him, the poor woman. Let’s say you were lusting after a hot studly sheep and wanted to cook him a romantic dinner. What would you make? And, while you’re at it, what do you think about my new sheared look? I just got it done special today in honor of interviewing Louisa… um, I mean you!

Lucille: That entire statement is so absurd, I don’t even know where to begin. Sheep eat grass, which I’ve never found very romantic. Can you even digest anything else? Are sheep the kind of animal with extra stomachs? Actually, that must be nice. Huh. Think of all the extra pork belly and bits of fried chicken skin I could eat…

Mho and Just One Taste visting friends

Mho: *pats very round, studly stomach* Now, speaking of Louisa Edwards, does she have any pets? Perhaps a dog? Do you think she’d be interested in have a pet sheep? *Moves into whisper* KB can’t cook for crap. I hear that Louisa is a very skillful chef.

Lucille: *drooling* Hmm, what? Oh, sorry, I was daydreaming there a little. Louisa Edwards…yeah, she’s a pretty good cook, I think. Mostly, she just enjoys it a lot. Even though I’ve heard her moan about how much work it is to develop and test the recipes she includes in her books, the truth is, I think she likes it. Although Just One Taste doesn’t have a lot of dog-friendly recipes—one is for chocolate fondue! Outrageous, if you ask me. Does she want to poison her entire canine following? If you’re reading this interview, Louisa, you should be ashamed. Ashamed!

Mho: Hold up! Were you drooling over Loiusa? I knew you had a thing for her. That’s so hot!

So, what does your future hold, besides long walks in the park, peeing on trees and sniffing your butt? How about the Market crew? Any top secret information you can share with me, so I look awesome to my fans?

Lucille: I’ll thank you not to mention my butt or bodily functions again. I am a lady. As for secret information—the Market crew is likely to show up here and there in the next trilogy, since it’s set in the same world, and the restaurant world is small and tight knit. Chefs tend to know each other! The new group of chefs in Too Hot to Touch, Some Like it Hot, and Hot Under Pressure are going after their culinary dreams in a high-stakes cooking competition that will change all their lives. Look for the first book in the Hot trilogy in August 2011! And keep your eyes peeled for familiar faces from Market. Including me…I could be bribed to make a cameo. Perhaps if there were bacon involved?

Mho: *waves bacon high in the air*

Contest time! I have a signed set of the whole Market trilogy to give away! For your chance to win, leave a comment here for Lucille, Me or Louisa by Saturday 10/23. Only open for US residents.

Runner up gets Mho for a sleepover.

OMG too funny. These are 3 of my fave books of 2010. I still can't bear to put them away. Don't enter me. I have them & I'm in Canada anyway. Lucille is adorable but not as much as Rosemary, Wes, Frankie & Jess.

Food and love are both weaknesses of mind, but to see a mix of the two in a book sounds absolutely luscious.
