Guest Post: Author Carrie Lofty On Her New Release and Hugh Jackman

Carrie Lofty has made a name for herself in the historical romance genre. Her first two books, What A Scoundrel Wants and Scoundrel's Kiss were very well received. Carrie also has published in the electronic world with Sundial. Now Carrie is one of the debut authors for Harlequin 's new epublisher, Carina Press, where on Monday June 7th you can finally purchase the books releases there.

Carrie has stopped by to talk about her new release for Carina Press, Song of Seduction, and who she thinks would be the perfect man to play the character of her hero, Arie De Voss. You can also find Carrie on Twitter- @carrielofty

Synopsis: Tormented by guilt. Haunted by scandal. Freed by love.

Austria, 1804

Eight years ago, composer Arie De Voss claimed his late mentor's final symphony as his own and became an icon. But fame has a price: fear of discovery now poisons his attempts to compose a redemptive masterpiece. Until a new muse appears, intoxicating and inspiring him...

Mathilda Heidel renounced her own musical gift to marry, seeking a quiet life to escape the shame surrounding her birth. Sudden widowhood finds her tempted by song once more. An unexpected introduction to her idol, Arie De Voss, renews Mathilda's passion for the violin--and ignites a passion for the man himself.

But when lust and lies reach a crescendo, Arie will be forced to choose: love or truth?

I'll admit it. I'm distracted. Katie was so generous as to invite me back to talk about my latest release, SONG OF SEDUCTION (http://www.carrielofty.com/Song.html), which is available as of June 7 from Carina Press. But...I cannot concentrate.

See, it's currently sunny and 76F here by the tranquil shores of Lake Michigan. Sure my evil nemesis, Guitar Man, has his patio door open and he's practicing yet another Eric Clapton-esque blues riff, but he's just a minor hiccup in an otherwise gorgeous day. How am I supposed to concentrate on anything other than trying desperately not to take a nap?

Do you know what else is distracting me? Well, it's more like who. First up is John Simm. I recently devoured all of the British version of Life on Mars, which is storytelling at its mind-blowing best. I want to get inside his head and figure out what's up there. It's probably a magical combination of forensic theory and very dirty thoughts.

And then there's Richard Armitage, as always. I recently watched him in the British six-part miniseries Strike Back. Take John Thornton's intensity, bulk him up with seven kilos of pure muscle, and stick a machine gun in his hands--that's Mr. Armitage as John Porter. My brain...it's all fuzzy.

How in the world am I supposed to concentrate on my silly little romance? Oh, wait. Hold on. There's something awesome coming through:

Why, hello Arie. Meet Arie de Voss. I know it's really Hugh Jackman, but this was one of the pictures that inspired SONG OF SEDUCTION's musician hero. Carry on, my good man, with your handsome brooding! Arie also says amazing things like: "Don't you understand? I could fall in love or go mad from wanting you."

It's enough to make a girl go mushy-headed.

I think I'm going to go have a cuppa on my balcony and listen to the boats on the lake, while visions of delicious fantasy heroes act all angsty in my head. And you? You're supposed to go buy SONG OF SEDUCTION. It's lovely. Promise.

What has you distracted today?

Congratulations on the release of 'Song of Seduction'! I loved 'Scoundrel's Kiss' & was delighted to see that you would be publishing with Carina.

I *wish* I had distractions like Hugh or Richard...or Gerard Butler or Bailey Chase or....sssiiigghhhh.

My distractions today have been laundry, hairballs and finding a gerbil in my bathroom sink.

Help.

Where did you find this wondrous Richard Armitage mini-series?! It's not on Netflix or amazon, and now I'm dying to see it.

This is distracting me now. ;P

Verona, I'm afraid it's a top secret case of don't ask, don't tell. The miniseries was shown in May on Sky in Europe, so I had to bribe members of MI5 for a look-see. The DVDs will be released in Britain on Monday, but I don't know about any plans for a North American release :(

Ann, I understand completely. I'm in the middle of laundry, and this morning my cat decided he was angry at me for not having fed him quickly enough. I don't want to elaborate what he did in retaliation, in case anyone has a delicate stomach. I think I'm gonna head back to fantasyland for a while. I hope you're able to escape your laundry and do the same!

Thanks for the cheerleading, Anthea! I'm excited about all my unusual babies venturing out into the world. The two books sold to Pocket that Anthea mentioned are set in Victorian South African (FLAWLESS) and Australia (SHAMELESS).

Life on Mars is amazing! Not surprising as it's a baby from Kudos F&TV that produced other quality works, such as Hustle (which inspired 'Leverage'), Spooks (aka MI5), and Eastern Promises (Viggo Mortensen / Naomi Watts / Vincent Cassel). John Simm is so lovely, on screen and in real life. He's probably one of my few favourite 'celebrities' in all time. *coughs* Excuse my fangirlness.

Maili, I don't know anything about Simm in real life except that he's read a few bedtime stories for CBeebies, which ranks high in our house. It's good to know that any fangirl crush on my part is warranted. I hate being duped by asshats who play good guys! I've been told by about six people now that I should see his performance in The Devil's Whore, and I can't wait to start in on "Spooks" once I finish "Ashes to Ashes" later this week (I'm on season two). Thanks for stopping by!
