Lover Mine is the Eighth book in the very addicting Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward aka The Warden aka The Crack:
If you are a BDB fan, you understand why this very popular series is thought of as crack. There have also been rumors of a possible love story between two secondary characters that have made quite an impression on the readers. These two are friends of John Matthew, a mute vampire, who is the hero of Lover Mine. Blaylock is a redheaded (YAY) vampire who happens to be gay and is in love with the bi-sexual Qhuinn, John Matthew bodyguard. Things between Blaylock and Qhuinn became intense when Blaylock admitted his feelings for Qhuinn. Unfortunately for Blaylock, Qhuinn ldoes oves Blaylock and has said he only enjoys being intimate with him while they engaged in a some fun with another lady. Qhuinn really wants to find a female mate and build a family. Poor, poor Blaylock...
Well, it seems things have changed and Ward has decided that Blaylock and Qhuinn are better as more than just friends, but as each other's mate. Some have decided to label this love match as Team Qhuay.

I do hope that Ward will write another one of her wonderful, hot and steamy trademake love stories with Blaylock and Qhuinn. And this means no subtle, closed door love scenes. I want full frontal, in my face MM love making between these two characters. And for those who may not be too keen about this, keep in mind that Ward wrote a few, very open incentuous sex scenes between a half-brother (hero or book #7) and his half-sister that has occured in the past two books. If incest was accepted, you better believe that a loving gay romance between two men who love each other desperately better be in these pages, if not in this book, then in a future one.
So let's give out a cheer my fellow Ward BDB fans! Only 2 more months to go until you can feed your crack addiction.

YAYAY! I want Team Qhuay to happen (in full technicolor, my friend)! Crossing my fingers for it like a junkie.
I think J.R. Ward is a wonderful writer, the first 3 books in the BDBH series are out of this world fantastic - the 4th book just OK and all the books after that a huge disappointment for me.
(After what she did to V, I just sort of didn't trust her with the story line any more and frankly I haven't really liked the story line after that.)
While I want to read the next book I will no longer be purchasing her books, I'll borrow it from the library instead. They are just not shelf keepers for me.
As for Qhuinn and Blaylock... I am hoping for a m/m/f story - perhaps with one of the women currently residing with Phury and his wife so that she can "feed" them both and be the mother of their children. That would be my choice for this story.

I heard Layla loses her virginity in Lover Mine. Perhaps with Qhuinn? That would make perfect sense if she feeds Qhuay. Nice call MsM.

Now, I don't know if we necessarily get Qhuinn/Blay action in this book..we def get Blay/Saxton action. And I hear a certain Qhuinn gets a bit jealous. Oh yes :)
BUT - do we think Layla ends up with Qhuinn and Blay full-term? If not, who does she end up with?
I always thought Layla would end up with Tohr, but now I am for Layla with Qhuay.

Umm, yes, I had never once encountered MM in a book before until I read that steamy, hopefully prelude, between Blay and Quinn. *sigh* I am all for full detail.
I am all for this book because of JM, he is my fav, I wish I was Xhex but what can you do? so I'll settle for literary voyeurism.

I'm looking forward to Lover Mine but I hate to say this but I just don't like Xhex.Not that I don't ike her character, I do. I don't know, she just seems waaaaaay to butch that I can't relate to her whatsoever. Please, no book throwing my way for saying this, lol.
In erotica, anything goes, but with romance I think I prefer couples. I know, I'm no fun.
What does m/m have to do with incest? I don't get the comparison.
Jill: From what I have read on the Ward message boards, some readers are uncomfortable with a MM love scene. My issue is, if you were fine with reading an incestuous sex scene, why would you be uncomfortable reading an MM sex scene?
And if Ward can write a graphic incest sex scene, then she can certainly write a graphic MM sex.scene
So, if readers accept deviant or kinky scenes of any type, they should also be open to m/m? I can't agree with that. I like f/f, for example, but I don't expect everyone to be comfortable with it. Different strokes.
By the way, I'm all for Ward writing a graphic m/m scene. Just disagreeing with your argument. Don't hurt me!

I can see your point. Different strokes, definitely. But let's say for argument sakes, someone wasn't turned off by the incest but up in arms over a MM sex scene between two men who cared for one another. Why would incest be acceptable but not a MM love scene?
For me personally, I would be upset because if Ward was okay with showing incest, but say she decides to have a closed door MM love scene, I would be annoyed.

I'm not a huge Xhex fan but I'm hoping she'll grow on me in LM.

I remember along time ago on her message board Ward stated that, Qhuinn would end up with a female. But, she has changed her mind before or claimed she saw it wrong. When fan/message board pressures make her change a storyline.
Up until V's book I was totally on the crack, now not so much. I think the series has gone downhill big time. If the author can't remember facts or descriptions from one book to the next, than I can't be bothered either. I know I'll read Xhex and JM's book because I Love the idea of them together. But, after that I doubt I'll continue with the series.
On a side note I doubt Ward would be bold enough to do M/M incest. Qhuinn and Sexton are cousins, so I think that cuts out anything between them.
I think Ward is great at making MM moments hot with a very few carefully crafted words and implications. Think of that moment between Butch and V during his Brotherhood induction ceremony where V brushes up against him just before he completes the ceremony! Talk about hot, hot, hot and it wasn't explicit at all. My toes were curling at the brief Qhuinn/Blay kiss in Phury's book and it wasn't explicit at all.
Logically, I can't see Ward giving us a full on, no holds barred, full on MM as a part of a secondary plot line in any of the main BDB books. However, the idea of a novella has been tossed around but even there...I doubt that it will happen or be ok'ed by the publisher.
But, I'm hoping that Ward will be able to artfully craft it in a way where we get the full effect of the Qhuinn/Blay hotness with little to no "harm" to readers who are resistant to the idea.
For me, even though I'm excited to see how things work out for JM after all these books (since we met him in Rhage and Mary's story), but Qhuinn and Blay has certainly overshadowed JM and Xhex in my opinion!
I'm so excited to see Qhuinn go all "My Mate!" and bonding scent when he sees Blay hooking up with Saxton. Plus, finally, some lovin' for Blay. Poor guy, having to pine after Qhuinn for so long. He needs a little something, something. He needs a little happiness, even if it's temporary. And from what we saw of Saxton, he looked pretty yummy as well. :)

Actually, I'm fan more interested in Qhuinn/Blay developments that I am with JM/Xhex.
Question - could Blay/Qhuinn/Layla as a permanent relationship occur? I would have thought that if Qhuinn bonds with Layla then he won't want Blay anywhere near her...would he? And if he (Qhuinn) bonds with Layla then would he also bond with Blay?
I haven't looked forward to a BDB book so much for ages :)
Orannia: I just thought of another possible story. If Ward wanted to, she could give Sexton his own story, where he ends up with Layla. Poor Layla has been floating along since the beginning. I want the poor girl to have her own HEA and for a minute I thought she would be with JM.
But Blay and Qhuinn need a woman to feed from also.
Team Qhuay.... and Layla? Absolutly Not! Blay and Qhuinn belong together! Adding Saxton and Layla as rivals could make the story instresting, But Blay and Qhuinn alone are the MUST BE COUPLE. Honestly, I host a passionate hatred for John Matthew and was dissapointed to discover he's getting his own book. Now, the only reason im going to read it is for the BLAy/Qhuinn parts.Blay+Qhuinn=AWESOME! LAyla just isn't part of that eqaution!
