Chocolate Covered Potato Chips Described Perfectly...

I just finished a really great historical romance from a debut author. The book will be released next month and my review posted this week.

I was in the midst of reading and enjoying a love making scene between the hero and heroine when this line jolted me out of the story:

"He dipped his tongue between her legs, tasting the salty sweetness of woman."

For some reason I started craving chocolate covered pretzels or potato chips.

Is it just me, or is that line a bit too purple prose? Hot line and all, and what comes afterwards is sizzling but I had to put down the cook and raid my kitchen for something sweet/salty.

Ever read a specific line in a book that made you hungry for no reason other than the description?

LOL Peaches, anyone?

In all honesty, not really. But that line is definitely purple-prosey.

It's not usually a specific line that sets me off, but if a book harps on food then I'm a goner. The Raven Prince by Hoyt and Duchess By Night by James; made me crave eggs so much it hurt lol.

OK, too funny. I was trying to describe that exact sort of taste during my work today. I typed something along the lines of salty sweetness and instantly thought of chocolate covered potato chips. So I deleted it!! That's just a weird-o freaky coincidence.

I'm a salty-snack girl. Chips, beef jerky, pringles, you name it...

Naughty peaches! :D

I might have said "her" not "woman" to make it less purple.

Jill: Choco covered potato chips are evil. So, so good. Sounds like a strange combo but they are heavenly!

Sorry, I know I've been sidetracked but...chocolate-covered potato chips actually exist?

And yes, peaches immediately sprung to mind :) I always purchase Peach Body Butter from the Body Shop...

Just tried chocolate covered potato chips yesterday for the first time. They really are way too good and seriously not on my WW diet.

I agree the line is a bit too purple prosey.

Even though I liked Wild Card by Lora Leigh, every time Nathan says "I want to eat you like candy, baby" or "You taste like the sweetest candy, baby", etc etc --you get the picture!--I started laughing. I think Nathan might have a sweet tooth! :)

Over at Whipped Up, Angie had a recipe for chocolate covered crackers that sounded so good, I'll be making it for Christmas.

Same thing, salty + sweet = WIN.

I have never heard of chocolate covered potato chips before... I am so craving to try them now. Food descriptions in books don't really make me hungry enough to stop reading, even hunger won't stop me reading if it's a good book. :D

Besides peaches, berries and cherries are used too for describing lady parts. So much fruit usage.
